Welcome to the Emotional Wellbeing Service
Here you will be able to find everything you need to know about our service. Be sure to take a look at some of the other sections we have too, this will help you to understand how we can support you and hopefully find what you are looking for.
Here at the Emotional Wellbeing Service (EWS), we provide early-intervention for emotional wellbeing in children and young people across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Change Grow Live won the contract for the Emotional wellbeing Service in 2016. We are funded jointly by University Health Board (UHB) and Area planning Board (APB).
How do we do this?
By utilising therapeutic groups and one-to-one support, the EWS promotes positive wellbeing and tools that strengthen emotional resilience and regulation, including support for young people engaging in risk-taking behaviours. So if you are feeling sad, lonely, depressed or feel you lack confidence and self-esteem, we can help you by offering support with;
Mental health and emotional wellbeing
Drugs and alcohol
Self-harm
Safer sex & healthy relationships
The Emotional Wellbeing Service is the first point of contact for a young person wanting to develop coping strategies and learn new ways to be able to feel better and make positive changes.
Who can come to us?
The young people who can access the service are:
10 – 17 years old for emotional wellbeing
10 – 18 years old for substance misuse
Wanting support and have given consent for referral
Live within Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan
A young person referred to the EWS will receive a triage assessment. This is just a chat over the phone to discuss what support you need and how we can help you.
For this reason we ask that an up to date phone number for the young person is provided at point of referral. Brief interventions are available through group work in schools and community locations across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. In some cases we can offer some 1:1 sessions as well as group work.
